D3.3 SIMAtlantic data study: survey results

Abstract:

This report has been developed within the context of the SIMAtlantic project that aims to support the establishment and implementation of Maritime Spatial Plans in line with MSP Directive requirements. This deliverable presents the results of a survey conducted by the SHOM (Service Hydrographique et Océanographique de la Marine) on how MSP related data is produced and shared in the European Atlantic.

Implementation Context:

This report has been developed within the context of the SIMAtlantic project.

Aspects / Objectives:

A survey was designed to identify how the geographical data relating to MSP is organised, the service needs of a European portal dedicated to MSP, and the means and formats in which the national plans will be accessible.

Method:

The survey was sent to all the States involved in this project: Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, England and Northern Ireland.

The survey was conducted during the period of May to September 2020 to allow enough time for coordination within the organisations and for the delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Main Outputs / Results:

The results of this survey are provided in this report using representative tables and comments received from participants while also providing the limits related to the question answered.

The report is available in English and French.

Transferability:

This survey was conducted by the SIMAtlantic project in the Atlantic region, therefore results cannot be transferred to others sea basins.
