Implementation Context

The Dutch government has been actively involved in maritime issues and MSP in the North Sea. To inform the public and all possible stakeholders, a specific website has been developed which shows all relevant information.

Develop an online tool, which disseminates all relevant Dutch maritime information.


Combining all relevant North Sea relevant information and publish it on a specific website.

Main Outputs / Results

The website shows all North Sea relevant maritime issues for the Netherlands. For example:

  • How the central government manages the North Sea.
  • How the space in the North Sea is divided.
  • What is possible and allowed in the North Sea and what rules and conditions apply.
  • Where to go for which permit.
  • What national and international policy is in force.
  • Etc.


The website is a best practice example of how a national government is able to communcate electronically about relevant maritime issues to the general public. The building and set up of the website can be an inspiration for national or regional government from other countries.
