The Greater North Sea Basin Initiative (GNSBI) is a regional, non-binding initiative that aims to promote cooperation and coordination among its member countries to address common challenges and opportunities for the Greater North Sea region. Its objectives include strengthening regional cooperation among the 9 GNSBI countries: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
The initiative aims to support maritime spatial planning (MSP) and implement efficient management processes in the Greater North Sea. By fostering collaboration at sea basin level, the initiative aims to enable the optimal use of the space while protecting and improving the marine ecosystem - ensuring a resilient and sustainable blue economy in the Greater North Sea.
