On 4 September 2025, the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries held the MSPglobal Online Conference: 2.0 Closing & 3.0 Kick-off. The event report is now available for download.
The conference reviewed the key achievements of MSPglobal 2.0 and introduced the next phase, MSPglobal 3.0. It featured the launch of the new Rapid Assessment Methodology, updated MSP guidance on biodiversity inclusion and climate-smart planning, and new data toolboxes on spatial data infrastructures and ocean observations. Two publications on engaging the offshore wind sector were also presented.
Looking ahead, MSPglobal 3.0 will develop further guidance on land–sea interactions, additional data toolboxes on cumulative impact assessment and spatial scenarios, and a new volume dedicated to aquaculture sector engagement.
