Coastal areas and communities across the EU have great potential for development. But they also face structural challenges linked to their geography, environmental pressures, climate change and socio-economic challenges.
This EU strategy aims to set out an approach for coastal communities to help them:
· seize sustainable development opportunities,
· respond to climate change,
· address socio-economic challenges, including in the most vulnerable fisheries communities.
