EU and neighbourhood countries agree 1st shared EU-Albania fisheries restricted area and other measures to protect Mediterranean and Black Sea fisheries and biodiversity
The EU and neighboring countries have agreed on key conservation measures, including the establishment of a shared fisheries restricted area (FRA) in the Otranto channel, and further cooperation on multiannual management plans (MAPs) for the Mediterranean and Black Sea. These actions aim to improve fish stock sustainability, with a focus on vulnerable ecosystems and species. The agreement also includes measures for demersal and pelagic species, cooperation on scientific data collection, and stronger efforts against illegal fishing.
