Ocean & Coastal Management - Volume 197

Marine and estuarine management requires an excellent understanding of the interacting, interrelated and interdependent sub-systems comprising ecological, societal and management complexity.

By 2050 the world population is expected to reach 10 billion people. This population needs food, water and energy. Increasingly, opportunities are sought out at sea to accommodate these needs.

ICES

This report presents the outcomes of a workshop led by ICES on risk management in MSP, particularly focussing on a method called ‘Bow-Tie Analysis'.

BALTSPACE

The Bow-tie approach comes from a risk assessment background.

MESMA

A generic and flexible framework describing a best practice process of how to assess spatial management within a discrete marine area with clearly defined boundaries in space and time.
