On 16 April 2026, the Marine Synergy Forum will bring together policymakers, researchers, entrepreneurs and maritime sector experts in Liepāja, Latvia, to explore multi-use solutions for the sustainable development of marine space in the Baltic Sea region. The forum is organised by the Kurzeme Planning Region and will take place at the concert hall "Great Amber" (8 Radio Street, Liepāja).
The forum focuses on the integration of offshore wind energy and low-trophic aquaculture (including macroalgae and mussel cultivation) within shared marine spaces. These combined approaches aim to make more efficient use of marine space while also contributing to water quality improvement and broader blue economy development, making them highly relevant to maritime spatial planning practitioners.
