Introduction
The offshore wind parc of Saint Nazaire (Loire Atlantique, France) has been in operation since the end of 2022. The wind farm includes 80 offshore wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6 megawatts (MW), for a total output of 480 MW). The turbines are located between 12 and 20 km off the coast of Loire-Atlantique, covering a total surface area of 78 km², and at depths of between 12 and 25 m. The park was developed by a consortium led by EDF Renouvelables and including Enbridge Inc. and General Electric.
Different visits to the OWF infrastructure are available:
- The maintenance base can be visited during school holidays and provides to visitors a “behind-the-scenes” look at the operation and maintenance of the wind farm.
- The offshore wind farm installation can be visited through the boat operator Navix.
The offshore wind farm operator has also partnered with EOL, the offshore wind farm centre located in Saint Nazaire to organize guided discovery cruises within the park.
